2007 Innovation in Health Care Award Goes to CHA for "The Battle of the Bulge"

September 20, 2007
Innovation plays a key role in maintaining quality in today's health care environment. The Innovation in Health Care Award was established to salute the innovations being developed by Montana's hospitals, nursing homes and other health care providers.

Entries are judged by not only on the quality of the project, but also on how it fits into the organizations's vision, its effectiveness, its benefit to the community and its applicability to other facilities.

Community Hospital of Anaconda and Powell County Memorial Hospital are promoting health and wellness in an effort to reduce cardiovascular risk factors among employees. In an effort to reduce these factors, the "Battle of the Bulge" campaign was started in November 2006.

In the beginning, each facility had a goal of 20 employees to join. Today, over ninety participants have joined to lose weight and adopt a healthy lifestyle and have lost a total of 700 lbs!

Employees of CHOFA and PCMH have been able to take control of their health and wellness through this program.

In 2006 CHA won the award for being the First Hospital to Bring Personal Health Records to Montana
